Nina's mysterious illness

Jarmo posted this on the Forum today:

http://www.bild.de/BILD/unterhaltung/leute/2008/11/14/nina-hagen/virus-erkrankung-nach-indien-reise.html

It says Nina is suffering from a virus infection since returning from India. The doctors have not been able to provide a diagnosis yet. She had to cancel one TV performance at least. Another one is scheduled for Saturday night, along with Uri Geller!

A Google-translated version of the story in English can be seen here.

This is scary news indeed.  If anyone learns anything new, feel free to post a comment here or on the Forum.  Right now all the news reports are saying the same thing (with very few details), but maybe more info will come soon.

Mother is Reacting: Sweet Lord Revamped

Back in 2001 (was it really that long ago?) Nina Hagen and  Loka Nunda released the "Sweet Lord Concept Album", a double-disc remix album centered around George Harrison's classic "My Sweet Lord."

This month Loka Nunda released "Mother is Reacting", which revisits the original while adding several brand-new tracks and mixes.  It's a new soundscape of chants, dance beats, and transcendental vibes, again featuring Nina's divine vocals.  If you missed the original, which is no longer available, you'll want to check this out!

The CD will soon be available on cdbaby.com, but right now you can buy the MP3s on Amazon for only $8.99.  The tracks are DRM-free and high-quality, which makes this an awesome deal.  You can also hear more on Loka's MySpace page.

Nina's NYE bash

Looks like Nina's New Year's party is a go!  You can get tickets here, and Nina says on her homepage that the whole thing will be broadcast on the web, so you can drunkenly tune in from wherever you happen to be.

Thanks to Dennis Miller for the heads-up!

Forum change

Due to heavy spambot assaults I've had to make a couple of changes to the forum files.  You won't be able to get to the old one if you've linked directly to it, so use the link on the menu above and it'll take you there. :)

New Photo Galleries

Greg was kind enough to email me several collections of live shows, so they're now online.  I've also broken the live photos out into their own galleries, so they're easier to look at. :)

A note about the photo archive:  most of the time people send me Nina photos from out of the blue, so I don't know where they originally came from.  If any of these photos belong to you and you don't want them shown here, please email me at shoogle2@gmail.com and I will remove them.  I am happy to host them free of charge (they are copy-protected so they can't be stolen off the site), but if you'd rather host them yourself, I will respect your wishes and take them down.  If you just have a correction or any other information to add, please get in touch.

Since I'd like the Archive to keep growing and provide a place for Nina photos to securely reside, you can email them to me (.zip files are best for large batches) in their original sizes and I'll add them to the Archive.  Thanks!

Special day

HAPPY

NINA!!

Please come back to Seattle!

More updates

Some more new stuff:

  • Added some new live shows to the Music section:  France 1980, Seattle 1982, Hollywood 1998, San Francisco 2002/2004/2005, and Berlin 1985.  There's some great stuff in there, including several songs she's never recorded onto albums.  Hollywood 1998 was my first Nina show and still one of my favorites!
  • Dennis Miller sent in some lyrics to "Irgendwo auf der Welt", which are now up in the Lyrics section.
  • The trailer for the "7 Zwerge" sequel can be seen on YouTube:

Recent changes and new stuff

  • Reconfigured the Music page to include a pop-up player and more stuff like live shows.  Added two shows so far, will add more later.
  • Uploaded better-sounding tracks to the singles/remixes/etc. jukebox.  They're still in mono (to save space and bandwidth) but the quality is better.  Also threw in some remixes I missed the first time around!
  • Fixed a couple of phrases in the "Michail, Michail" lyrics (thanks to Jarmo) and a missing word in "Ave Maria" (thanks to Paul Gilbert).
  • Added some links to English translations of the German interviews.  It's not perfect, but it does a decent job.
  • Added a 2005 phone interview with Nina from the "Nardwuar the Human Serviette" show.  I hope he doesn't mind if I host the file on my site as well. :)  Thanks to Dr Art and AgwA from the Forum for the info and file.
