  • Before you send me hate mail...
    I don't hate the flag, and I don't hate my country. What I do hate is the way marketing scumbags have turned the American flag (and our patriotism) into a giant money-making machine. The people who buy this crap are just as much to blame, filling their houses with cheaply-made "patriotic" junk.

    I am also disturbed by the fact that people seem to think that waving a flag makes them better Americans. It doesn't. Patriotism is more a matter of community than a matter of how many and how high we wave our flags. This blog is a satire of this kind of exploitation, and I hope you can appreciate the humor. If not, then feel free to visit any number of humorless sites out there.

A lamp with a plate holder. Discuss.

Some genius out there saw a need in this country--a need for a hideously ugly lamp that holds an equally hideous commemorative plate.  Truly, a man with a unique vision.

So he brought lamp and plate together for all the world to behold!  Finally, lamp and plate are as one!

...And we are shaking our heads, wondering what in the bloody hell he was thinking.
